In the lead up to, what has commonly become known as, Blue Monday (the most depressing day of the year), Domestic Violence Campaigner and writer Jennifer Gilmour will be giving away the Kindle edition of her debut novel Isolation Junction.
Jennifer is a survivor of Domestic Violence and since 2015 has become an advocate for those in abusive relationships. She has published two books: Isolation Junction, a work of fiction and Clipped Wings, a compilation of stories from survivors. Both seek to raise awareness of domestic abuse and the need to ensure there is appropriate policy and working practices to support those affected by it. Jennifer continues to publicly support those who are isolated and who struggle to have a voice via blog posts, radio interviews and her Twitter feed. Find out more about Jennifer here.
Over Christmas, the number of domestic abuse incidents reported to the police rises significantly. As we move into January the risks for women (and men) in violent relationships remain high as the pressures and disappointments associated with Blue Monday emerge (debt worries, Christmas blues, weather conditions, failed resolutions, a drive to act but limited opportunities).
In response to this, Jennifer hopes to promote her novel and its subject as widely as possible by offering free Kindle downloads for the next five days (Monday 8th January to Friday 12th January 2018). Jennifer asks that we share this link widely and break the silence surrounding domestic abuse. Spread the word!

Want to know more about Isolation Junction? Here’s the blurb:
Rose is the mother of two young children, and finds herself living a robotic life with an abusive and controlling husband. While she struggles to maintain a calm front for the sake of her children, inside Rose is dying and trapped in ‘Isolation Junction’.
She runs an online business from home, because Darren won’t let her work outside the house. Through this, she meets other mums and finds courage to attend networking events, while Darren is at work, to promote her business.
It’s at one of these events that Rose meets Tim, a sympathetic, dark-haired stranger who unwittingly becomes an important part of her survival.
After years of emotional abuse, of doubting her future and losing all self-confidence, Rose takes a stand. Finding herself distraught, alone and helpless, Rose wonders how she’ll ever escape with her sanity and her children. With 100 reasons to leave and 1,000 reasons she can’t, will she be able to do it?
Will Tim help her? Will Rose find peace and the happiness she deserves? Can Rose break free from this spiralling life she so desperately wants to change?
