PHOTO PROMPT © Roger Bultot
Eva stopped for a moment, leaning back against the cool stone of a vast pillar. Droplets of sweat tickled at her temples as they began their descent down her cheeks.
She sucked air into her aching chest, her thoughts racing like the beating of her heart.
Mere seconds and she was running again, into the grand entrance of the museum. She slammed into a wall of visitors moving as one into the building.
‘Stop!’ she cried ‘Wait!’
But her pleas went unnoticed as the impenetrable crowd carried her backwards. Back towards the flames and the teeth, and those golden-flecked eyes.

Word count: 100 words
I wrote this as part of the Friday Fictioneers challenge hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields (thanks as always Rochelle). The idea is to write a short story (just 100 words) based on the photo prompt provided.
To join in the fun visit HERE.
Thanks for reading x
It sounds as though a grim fate awaits Eva. Being forced back by an impenetrable crowd is he stuff of nightmares…

What lurks yonder? I though she was going to get away.

Caught mid-action so to speak, the story leaves lots of questions unanswered until the end. But what is behind those eyes? A dragon or Lucifer, we will never know as poor Eva is clearly doomed.
A curious but fun read.

I like a bit of mystery at the end.. keeps ’em guessing! I like to do that with my stories sometimes. Well done Anna!

Made me wonder if she was having some sort of hallucination or was there really a dragon or creature out to get her. Good story.

Ha! Yep there was indeed a dragon in my head – although I realised it could be interpreted other ways 🙂 thanks

I could just picture this, the descriptions were so bang on…. How terrifying to not be able to escape!

Dear Anna,
I could feel the crowd pressing and her fear was tangible. Wondering if she’s having a psychotic break of some kind. Well written no matter what and left me wanting more.
Shalom,
Rochelle

Oh no! Now that has left me wondering what creature or being with golden flecked eyes is waiting for them. Chillingly done!

Wonderful details! I imagined I was in the great hall with Eva; breathing heavy and pushed by the crowds. Very well done! =)

What she considered her escape and redemption became her doom. I mean the crowds!

Great descriptions Anna! I don’t know what’s scarier, the flames or the crowd! Nicely done x

She’s not going to come out of this situation well.

This is the stuff of nightmares! The wall of people was an excellent touch.
